Bill and Pat Word Scholarship

The Bill and Pat Word Scholarship was established on April 4, 2022. Bill and Pat Word valued education and through sacrifice and hard work, they inspired their three children to aspire to become college graduates. They put all three children through college ensuring each received the degrees they sought. Two of the three attended Vernon College after it opened in 1972, and Mrs. Word fulfilled her lifelong dream of “going to college” by receiving an Asociate in Applied Science in Mental Health Technology from VC in May 1981. Bill and Pat Word Scholars will be selected by the Vernon College Scholarship Committee based on the following criteria: 1. First preference to Vernon High Graduates. 2. Second preference to graduates of Chillicothe High School. 3. Third preference to graduates of Northside High School. 4. Majoring in Agriculture, Farm and Ranch Management, or Education. This scholarship will support tuition, fees and program educational supplies. Annual application is required.
